Wolf Gets Best Friend Role In "The Fault in Our Stars"

EW reports that Nat Wolff has won the pivotal role of Isaac in the film adaptation of author John Green's young adult novel The Fault in Our Stars.

The story follows Hazel ("The Descendants" co-star Shailene Woodley) a sixteen-year-old cancer patient, who is forced by her parents to attend a support group. She soon meets and falls in love with seventeen-year-old Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort), an ex-basketball player and leg amputee.

Isaac is a close friend of Augustus who is responsible for bringing him to the teenage cancer support group where Augustus and Hazel first meet. Wolf was among the list of final candidates to play Augustus before Elgort won the part

Filmmaker Josh Boone, whose film Stuck In Love made a splash at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, has the job of directing the film. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber wrote the adapted screenplay.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce the pic.

Production hopes to start next month in Pittsburgh.

In "Divergent" Woodley and Elgort play siblings--Production is underway in Chicago on that film and it's slated for release on March 21, 2014.
