Urban Wants A "Dredd" Sequel

Appearing at Comic-Con to promote his new fall TV show "Almost Human," actor Karl Urban thinks that chances of a sequel to last year's Dredd are not so far-fetched after all.

Urban tells Airlock Alpha:

"It's certainly my hope that we get to make more. Clearly it has found an audience. The home video sales for Dredd 3D just went through the roof. I think it sold 650,000 units in the first week."

The actor added that he met with writer-producer Alex Garland about the notion of a follow-up.

Made for $45 million, the reboot got good reviews but took in just $36 million worldwide. Urban also urges fans to get involved and demand a sequel:

"I think the more people that campaign for it, the more people that email, Twitter and write into Lionsgate and say 'We want to see more of this,' then the more likelihood is that we'll get to see that. We certainly are doing everything we can to ensure that happens."
