Star Wars Will Help Disney Absorb "Lone Ranger" Losses

Despite the grim reality that "The Lone Ranger" was going to be $190 Million dollar loss for Disney, the studio's stock price actually went up 1%.

The company has "Star Wars: Episode VII" as its silver lining

Variety reports that, even though we're two years away from its release, some specific estimates have been issued regarding the profitability of the new sequel.

Credit Suisse financial analyst Michael Senno says he expects Disney to generate around $733 million in profits and $1.2 billion in global theatrical receipts from the first new film on its own.

It's also expected to make a mint and some on any consumer products and other tie-in revenue which will raise the stock to a new target price of $74.

Very interesting point Tom. Any ideas why Lone Ranger flopped? Thought with Johnny Depp it would be a sure hit.

The film had script and budget issues galore Marc. I think the filmmakers were hoping that no one would notice with Depp in the film
