Ben Affleck is in talks to take the lead role in the drama "Gone Girl" says Deadline.
Based on author Gillian Flynn's novel, Affleck would play a husband whose wife disappears during their fifth anniversary - leaving him the prime suspect for her murder.
Flynn wrote the first draft of the adapted script, from which David Fincher's going to direct.
No female lead has been cast yet.
Reese Witherspoon Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon will produce the film.
Production begins this fall. Affleck will complete this film before going to work on his next directorial gig--an adaptation of author Dennis Lehane's latest novel "Live by Night".
