Dave Bautista And Georges St-Pierre Get Into "Kickboxer" Redux

THR reports that WWE superstar Dave Bautista and UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre are teaming up for on the remake of Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1989 action flick "Kickboxer".


The story follows David and Kurt Sloan, the descendants of a well-known Californian fighting dynasty. When David wins the Karate World Championship, a promoter lures him to Hong Kong, despite his brother's protestations that the man is a crook.When Kurt travels to Thailand to meet his brother, he discovers he has died and seeks his revenge.

Mark Disalle directed the original which starred Van Damme and world kickboxing champion Dennis Alexio.

 Stuntman and martial artist Alain Moussi plays the lead in the remake.

Stephen Fung will call action on the Kickboxer update using a script by Dimitri Logothetis and Jim McGrath.

Ted Field will produce the new film.

JCVD's  1988 film Bloodsport and the 1994 Peter Hyams’ film Timecop are getting remakes as well.
