Julia Stiles and Bill Cobbs have joined the cast of the film adaptation of author Katherine Paterson's novel "The Great Gilly Hopkins" says Deadline.
Sophie NĂ©lisse plays Gilly, a young girl who dreams of being reunited one day with her mysterious and exotic mother (Stiles).
Cobbs plays Gilly's blind, kindly neighbor.
Glenn Close, Kathy Bates, Danny Glover Billy Magnussen and Octavia Spencer also star.
Stephen Herek (Mr. Holland's Opus, The Mighty Ducks) is directing the pic using an adapted script by David Paterson.
William Teitler (“What Maisie Knew,” “The Polar Express") is set to produce the pic with William Kay and Peyton Kay.
Production is underway.
