From Sundance 2010:The Robert Rodriguez'pic Machete which is based on the spoof trailer seen in the middle of Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse double-feature has been purchased says Variety.
Danny Trejo plays the blade-wielding Mexican ex-Federale who is double-crossed by a crooked politician.
Fox beat out Paramount Pictures and Lionsgate for the domestic distribution rights to the movie after having seen 15-30 minutes of the film.
Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, and Jeff Fahey also star.
The film is written by Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis.
