News of Fox scrapping “Caesar” the remake/reboot of Planet of The Apes via "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" seems to have been premature according to Vulture.
Scott Frank.was attached to direct the project and rewrite an original script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
Frank's story followed genetics gone awry when they evolved past humanity, while 'Caesar' himself is the leader of the simian rebellion and is capable of grand strategic thinking.
The studio didn't really like Frank's ambitiously dark and hard sci-fi focus, going in a different direction which Frank didn't want to follow.
The studio has now hired Street Kings writer Jamie Moss to rework Frank’s script.
Jaffa and Silver have been brought back on to do some dialogue polishing.
Whatever happens--the folks involved have a long way to go so that we forget the woeful 2001 update.
Peter Chernin and Scott Rudin will produce the sci-fi pic.
