Bloody Mess

Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate have exercised an option for Saw VI director Kevin Greutert to get him to return and direct Saw VII -3-D says Deadline Hollywood.

The studio previously set David Hackl (Saw V) as helmer on the latest sequel but has been removed from the project and will be assigned something else.

The crafty move stems from recent news that Greutert would helm Paranormal Activity 2 follow-up to Oren Peli's surprise smash.

The first Paranormal Activity made $123 million in box-office, more than double the haul of"Saw VI" with $57 million.

Paramount Pictures had lined up the 'Paranormal' sequel for an October 22nd release, directly in competition with "Saw VII 3D". This move essentially stalls PA 2.

Greutert had this to say on Official Site:

"I'm in the middle of something really terrible right now, as anyone who has come to this site probably knows. While I fight for justice in this, the important thing is to avoid giving in to hatred and anger, because these emotions are life killers. Hopefully we will all arrive at an amicable solution. Thank you to everyone who is working with me on this".

Sounds rightfully peeved... Doesn't make it any less skeevy But what else could LG and TP do? They know their cash cow is in trouble When sabotage is the only weapon you have...

A replacement director will be found for PA 2 relatively fast but will it be fast enough foil Jigsaw's plans?

Stay Tuned--This behind the scenes drama would make a good movie...
