Martin Scorsese is best known for making hard-edged movies for adults...Now he's going family friendly for his next feature
He is in talks to direct a live-action adaptation of Brian Selznick's children's book The Invention of Hugo Cabret says Variety.
The 2008 Randolph Caldecott-Medal winner 550 page story centers on an orphaned boy who secretly lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station and looks after the clocks. He gets caught up in a mystery adventure when he attempts to repair a mechanical man.
Chris Wedge ("Ice Age") was previously attached to direct was previously attached to direct the film.
John Logan, who wrote Scorsese's "The Aviator," adapted the screenplay.
The pic will be independently produced by Britain's Graham King, who oversaw Scorsese's work on the Oscar-winning 2006 thriller The Departed.
It's great that even at this stage in his career Scorsese wants new challenges
Shooting is scheduled to start on June 1st in London.
