Robert Downey Jr.. has dropped out of the sci-fi western "Cowboys And Aliens" reports The Los Angeles Times to concentrate on the greenlit Sherlock Holmes Sequel .
Downey and his "Iron Man," director Jon Favreau had been set to team on the comic book adaptation in which aliens land in Arizona circa the mid-19th century intent on enslaving the local population - until a group of cowboys and Apache Indians fight back
Now though while Favreau remains attached, the studio is seeking a new hero to replace him, in order to still meet a planned release Summer 2011.
As long as RDJ doesn't bail on Iron Man 3 it's all good...
