Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is in negotiations to helm a film about a historic real-life journey across Alaska says The Hollywood Reporter.
The book by Laney and Gary Salisbury tells the true story of the 1925 serum race to Nome, also called The Great Race to Mercy, in which 20 men and 200 dogs rushed a diphtheria antidote 674 miles across Alaska to save the small city of Nome and surrounding communities from an epidemic.
The group braved gales, blizzards and extreme temperatures - the lowest being minus 52C (minus 62F) at its lowest and a wind-chill of minus 65C (minus 85F) - and completed the journey in a record-breaking five and a half days.
Sean O'Keefe and Will Staples adapted the screenplay.
Mark Johnson will produce with cameras rolling by the Summer
