South Korean filmmaker and "Oldboy" director Chan-wook Park will direct the period crime drama "Corsica 72" says Variety.
The true story follows two best friends who live on the small island of Corsica where they choose different paths in life - one as an honest working man, the other as a gangster - they feud over a woman who comes between them.
Oliver Hirschbiegel ("Downfall") and Luca Guadagnino ("I Am Love") were previously linked as directors--actors like Andrew Garfield and Gemma Arterton have been mentioned as potential stars.
Frequent James Bond film franchise writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are penning the script and producing the film with Adi Shankar, Spencer Silna, Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits.
Park is expected to direct this film he does the S. Craig Zahler written ultraviolet western "The Brigands of Rattleborge" which still needs to nab a major star.
