Garant Ready For Lifegaurd Duty For "Baywatch" Film

Reno 911 co-creator Robert Ben Garant is set to direct the long-gestating film version of the hit 90's TV series "Baywatch" at Paramount reports Vulture.

A film based the series has been planned for years first using an action heavy script by David Ronn and Jay Scherick. And then Jeremy Garelick infused his draft with a more comedic tone.

In June, Justin Timberlake was linked to play a disgraced former Olympic swimmer trying out for the Baywatch crew. But that's never been confirmed

Series stars David Hassehoff and Pamela Anderson have roles written for them if they wish to appear

As of late last year "Rescue Me" co-creator Peter Tolan had reportedly finished the latest script which goes the way of the recent 21 Jump Street movie in that it's not a parody but it is a comedy, and is only loosely based on the show even though there will be some nods to the series.
