Matt Damon Open To Bourne Return Again

After several back and forth swings over the years--while chatting with CNBC, Matt Damon has once again opened the door again on the possibility of a return to the Bourne film series:

"I've always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director and... we've just never been able to come up with a story. It felt like such a good way to end it the last time, but having said that I love that character... and I'd love to see what happened to him."

Greengrass told  The Playlist last year that the ship has sailed on the notion of a Bourne return for him

For now former Fast and the Furious film franchise director Justin Lin is poised to helm the latest as yet Untitled Jason Bourne Sequel.

Anthony Peckham ("Sherlock Holmes," "Invictus") has been hired to write the script for a film that  continue the story of the Aaron Cross character introduced in 2012's "The Bourne Legacy" and played by Jeremy Renner,

'Legacy featured Cross as a member of the black ops program Operation Outcome whose agents are genetically enhanced.  Bourne's actions as chronicled in 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum force the public exposure of Outcome's earlier incarnations - Treadstone and Blackbriar - Cross goes on the run as the agency races to shut Outcome down and kill its agents.

The pic grossed $276 million worldwide.

Ben Smith and Jeffrey M. Weiner. will produce the next film.

Series fellow producer Frank Marshall has expressed a desire for a film that would combine Damon and Renner. Maybe one day it'll happen.

I have always thought Renner did a better job than Damon which echoes the way I felt about Andrew Garfield taking over as Spider-Man after Tobey Maguire had the role in Sam Raimi's  Spider-Man Trilogy. As far as I am concerned Damon not doing Bourne again is good news
