Jon Turteltaub, the director behind the National Treasure films is set to direct an untitled film about the creation of Greenpeace reports Variety.
Set in the late 70's/early 80's, the story follows the controversial organization's charismatic founding members, Bob Hunter and Rex Weyler .
Together with pacifists, ecologists, musicians, teachers, sailors, and scientists they often successfully managed to disrupt American and French nuclear bomb tests, Japanese and Russian whaling ships and Norwegian infant harp seal hunters.
Their success was not without repercussions though, from claims of ecoterrorism to the famed 1985 bombing and sinking of its flagship Rainbow Warrior by the French DGSE in New Zealand.
Aaron Sorkin has been in early discussions to pen the script.
Jerry Zucker and Janet Zucker will co-produce the pic.
