Royal Subjects

The cast for the period drama The King's Speech has added names to its cast roster says The Hollywood Reporter

Helena Bonham-Carter, Michael Gambon, Derek Jacobi, Guy Pearce, Jennifer Ehle and Timothy Spall joined the already in production pic.

The story follows the man who would become King George VI, the father of the current Elizabeth II After his brother abdicates, King George Albert VI (Colin Firth) reluctantly assumes the throne.

Plagued by a dreaded nervous stammer and considered unfit to be King, Bertie engages the help of the unorthodox ed Lionel Logue Speech Therapist (Geoffrey Rush).

Through a set of unexpected techniques, and as a result of an unlikely friendship, Bertie is able to find his voice and boldly lead the country into war.

Tom Hooper (John Adams, The Damned United) directs from a script by David Seidler.

The film will take the box office throne in late 2010.
