The idea of a film version of my favorite war comic Sgt. Rock has been around for 20 years...
And now rhe notion has been revived yet again...
I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence is set to helm the latest effort from by relative newcomer Chad St. John says the Heat Vision blog.
Mega-producer Joel Silver (who has hung in there all this time with the project) and Akiva Goldsman will serve in that capacity now.
In the comics, Sgt. Frank Rock was the leader of his infantry unit during World War II and fought in nearly every major engagement across North Africa, Italy and Northwest Europe.
Previous attempts to adapt the Sgt. Rock have been made by the likes Brian Helgeland to Steven E. DeSouza to John Milius and Guy Ritchie, among others retaining the WW 2 setting
The new version is expected to move the action to more contemporary times which will also help keep the budget under control. I'm also sure the relative success of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra helped to nudge Rock into the future...
Retain the character's make up and grit tuff and I will follow him into the future...
