Idris Elba has joined the cast of the comic book flick “Thor"...Elba will play Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard, says the Heat Vision blog.
Heimdall stands on the BiFrost Bridge ready to defend the city from intruders.
He joins the already cast Chris Hemsworth (as Thor), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), and Natalie Portman, as The Warriors Three, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, and Stuart Townsend-- Jamie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson, and Stellan Skarsgard .
The Kenneth Branagh directed film is due to hit on May 20th 2011. Shooting kicks off mid-January in Manhattan Beach.
This is Elba's second comics inspired film--he will be seen in 2010's Sylvain White pic The Losers.
