The season of Kudos continues...for the BEST of '09
Writers Guild of America:
"(500) Days of Summer," "Avatar," "The Hangover," "The Hurt Locker" and "A Serious Man" are all vieing for best original screenplay.
"Crazy Heart," "Julie and Julia," "Precious," "Star Trek" and "Up in the Air" are all nominated for best adapted screenplay.
Several films - "An Education," "Inglourious Basterds," "A Single Man" and "Up" - weren't eligible due to overly strict WGA rules.
The American Society of Cinematographers
"Avatar," "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds," "Nine" and "The White Ribbon" will all compete for best film.
American Cinema Editors Awards (Eddies)
"Avatar," "District 9," "The Hurt Locker," "Star Trek" and "Up in the Air" will compete for best edited dramatic feature film.
"(500) Days of Summer," "The Hangover," "It's Complicated," "Julie and Julia" and "A Serious Man" will vie for best comedy or musical film.
"Coraline," "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "Up" are in for top animated film.
"The Cove," "Food Inc." and "This Is It" are up for documentary.
I hope Star Trek and The Hangover walk away winners in these pre-Oscar races.
