Hedlund Offered Akira Lead

After weeks of circling the film Garrett Hedlund has just received a formal offer to take the part of Kaneda in the live action version of "Akira" says Twitchfilm.

The new film shifts the action from Neo-Tokyo to New Manhattan and follows Kaneda's attempts to save Tetsuo from a medical experiment that threatens to unleash destructive powers.
