Lionsgate International will help sell Alcon Entertainment's remake of the 1991 action thriller "Point Break " says Screen

This new version though trades surfing and skydiving for "the world of international extreme sports" but the release does not specify which of those sports are going to be used as the pic's hook.
The new version has been penned by Salt's Kurt Wimmer and producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. promise the new script "infuses the story and characters with new twists and settings".
Cinematographer turned filmmaker Ericson Core ("Invincible") is set to helm
Michael De Luca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Wimmer will also produce.

A new synopsis for the project has been released:
"The action centers on a former extreme sports superstar and FBI rookie who infiltrates a gang of itinerant thrill-seekers in a bid to crack a series of international robberies. As the law enforcer’s investigation goes deeper he develops a strong tie with an enigmatic adventurer attempting to become the first man to complete the death-defying Quest Of Eight Challenges.The producers will deploy high-resolution mini-cams to capture base jumping, surfing, motocross, snowboarding and skydiving sequences performed by leading extreme athletes.
Production is due to kick off in March on location in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, China and Malta.
The project will make the rounds at the 2013 American Film Market event in LA
