Director Kevin Smith finally won an appeal to get an R rating for his comedy "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" says The Associated Press.
The ruling from the Motion Picture Association of America came down yesterday. An MPAA spokeswoman said the rating was revised after the group's appeals board viewed the movie.
Smith reedited the film twice, each time receiving another NC-17, the virtual kiss of death for a film which means no one under 17 is allowed in the theater.
If the director had lost his appeal, he still would have been contractually obligated to deliver an R-rated film to the The Weinstein Company-as distributors. "I've gone as far as I can go, [but] my R would be a little better" than the studio suits', Smith said last month.
I'm sure the comedy will still cause quite a stir for some...
The film arrives Oct. 31.
