Veteran character actor Pat Hingle died at his home in Carolina Beach, North Carolina of leukemia on Saturday.
Perhaps best known to movie audiences as Commissioner Gordon in the first 4 big screen Batman films from 1089 self titler, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
Mr Hingle could do it all working in any genre for any medium like the comedies Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Muppets from Space. He appeared in the under-appreciated modern western The Quick and the Dead. and the cop dramedy Running Scared. You heard his voice in the animated flick The Land Before Time
From episodic TV to teleflkicks and miniseries Hingle was all over the dial spanning a six decade career in the biz...His turn in "The Twilight Zone" in 1063's The Incredible World of Horace Ford is among my favorites of the series. Hingle ever had an uncredited role in the classic film On the Waterfront. He'll appear as himself in 2010's Showing Up
Read about his long career here.
