Patel in Early Talks For Blomkamp's “Chappie”

THR reports that Dev Patel is in early talks to join the science-fiction film “Chappie”.

The film is based on “Tetra Vaal,” a short film about a robot police force patrolling the slums of South Africa.

Sharlto Copley would play the police robot while Patel will play a man in the impoverished town.

Neill Blomkamp is directing the film from a script he wrote with Terri Tatchell.

Simon Kinberg is producing the film.

“Chappie” is the third film made by Copley and Blomkamp following “District 9″ and the August 9th film Elysium.
