Producers Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell have picked up the remake rights to George A. Romero's 1985 zombie classic "Day of the Dead" says The L.A. Times.
The original film followed a group of military personnel and scientists hiding from the undead in a bunker.
The Texas Chainsaw 3D duo made a deal for the rights with the Taurus Entertainment Company who released the direct-to-video 2008 remake starring Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon.
Meetings are currently underway with screenwriters about the best way to adapt the 1985 original into a $10-20 million dollar film that could be ready in time for a theatrical release by 2014.
Campbell says that they are trying to keep it as close to the Romero version as possible.
