Adam Shankman is developing/producing the long-gestating remake of the 1958 stage musical "Bye Bye Birdie" according to THR .
A favorite for the past half-century, "Birdie" tells the tale of Conrad Birdie, a popular singer, who is about to be drafted by the Army, but as part of a publicity stunt, he agrees to one last encounter with a fan before he goes to war.
The premise is a based on an incident that happened to Elvis Presley
The property has been adapted several times before, most notably in a 1963 star-studded flick .
Boy. Shankman is one busy guy. He is attached to direct "Bob: The Musical." "Hairspray 2. He is also in negotiations to direct the new Sinbad," flick.
Could perhaps his Hairspray co-stars Zac Efron and or James Marsden be up for Birdie at some point down the road?...
