Garrett Hedlund is set to star in the "Tron," sequel (called Tron 2 for the moment) says The Hollywood Reporter.
Hedlund plays the lead, a man who finds himself pulled into the world of a computer and retracing the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn.
Jeff Bridges is reprising the role of Flynn from the 1982 cult classic, while Bruce Boxleitner who played the title character, is returning as well.
Hedlund has a packed resume including: Four Brothers the film version of Friday Night Lights, Georgia Rule, Death Sentence Troy and Eragon.
If the stars align this could be his breakout gig. He apparently beat out Ryan Gosling, Star Trek star Chris Pine and Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) for the role.
Meanwhile the already cast Olivia Wilde tells Sci-Fi Wire that much of the sets will be built for real, not CGI ready green-screened.
Production starts this April.
