Brittany Murphy and David Zayas have been cast in Sylvester Stallone's action-adventure The Expendables. says The Hollywood Reporter.The film follows a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator (Zayas). Murphy will play Mickey Rourke's girlfriend, a singer--she will perform a musical number in the all star pic.
Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Charisma Carpenter, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Terry Crews also star.
Stallone wrote the screenplay and is directing the film, which began production this week in Brazil and will later movie to Louisiana.
Murphy and Roarke shared the screen for about 10 seconds in Sin City...

A blog post has also gone up from the film's unit publicist Sheryl Main.:
"With two units shooting, 300 crew members, half who speak only Portuguese, car stunt, Statham hanging out of a plane, explosives, hundred extras and 85 degree heat with 85% humidity. . .I’ve worked on a few action films but I can tell you THIS IS BIG!! it is also the biggest film ever shot in Brazil."
The film opens April 23rd of 2010.
