X-Men movie series producer Lauren Shuler Donner wants to bring a third "X-Men" spin-off film to the big screen - X-Men: First Class
Talking with Fox Movie Channel's Life After Film School--via Comics Continuum:
"It is the first class of Xavier's school, way back when, so it's young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that'll be really fun. I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world."
Adding "hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up."
Josh Schwartz is writing the script but has opted out of directing the project.
This is understandable--Taking a page from the Star Trek playbook using younger versions of established characters looks like it work out well.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine opens May 1st while X-Men Origins: Magneto remains in development.
