Dark Goes DTV

30 Days of Night author Steve Niles told MTV News that the proposed follow up to David Slade's 2007 film adaptation is alive but going to debut on DVD and not in theaters...

"The script is in. I’ve been working on it with a buddy of mine, Ben Ketai, who directed the last round of the on-line webisodes. The script is based on Dark Days"

Niles followed up the hit comic series with a sequel Dark Days.

The story sees Stella Olemaun (Melissa George in the first film) relocate to Los Angeles to purposely attract the attention of the vampire community in order to take revenge on what the Alaskan vampires did to her husband Eben (Josh Hartnett).

"We didn’t hit that magic $100 million, but I had a long talk with [producer Sam Raimi ]," Niles tells MTV. "He called me and just said, 'Don't be too quick to judge this direct-to-dvd market, especially with the sci-fi market'."

I likeed the first film better than most I guess--It was a kick ass vamp flick---without a lot of that gooey gushy romance stuff in the middle.
