Angelina Jolie is going to play author Patricia Cornwell's Dr. Kay Scarpetta in a big screen adaptation of the best-selling murder thriller novel series featuring the fictional medical examiner says Variety.



The novels deal with a large amount of forensic science and are said to have been a big influence on the development the "CSI:" TV franchise.

They want to turn this into a franchise with Jolie in the lead. The opera-loving workaholic coroner has appeared in sixteen books.

This film won't be a direct adaptation of any of the books-yet still retain the grizzly vibe of the serirs.

Possible writers are having metings with the producers and star and one should be set annouced shortly.

Sounds perfect for Jolie...As long as can do Sin City 2 first...
