Dark Magic

Toby Kebbell has joined the cast of the in production family film The Sorcerer's Apprentice playing celebrity illusionist Drake Stone reports Variety.

The tale follows a college student (Jay Baruchel) who is reluctantly recruited to work for a sorcerer, Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) and has to take a crash course in magic to battle "dark forces" in Manhattan - including Horvath (Alfred Molina) and Stone, who are searching to gain "ultimate powers".

Kebbell was last seen in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla, as the lead character - punk rocker Johnny Quid He also appeared in Control, Alexander, and Dead Man's Shoes--I doubt this role will catapult him to mega-stardom--but he'll have fun with it.

Teresa Palmer's the female lead--also stars.

Jerry Bruckheimer's producing, along with National Treasure's Jon Turteltaub directing.

The film is scheduled for a July 16th 2010 release.
