The second film entitled "Haunting in New York" and will be based on the 2006 Discovery Channel documentary A Haunting: The Diabolical.
In it, the story follows a single mother and her child in a house where the daughter begins communicating with a presence. An attempt to contact that presence reveals that an 'evil spirit' is trying to use the daughter as a portal and they hurry to arrange an exorcism.
The third film is "Haunting in Georgia" about a four-year-old girl with two imaginary friends - Mr. Gordy and Con.
Soon paranormal phenomena take place, including the parents waking up with deep gashes on their body.
No need for franchise consistency if each film takes place somewhere different-a win for the studio...Cheaper to produce means more revenue for the studio.
