USA Today has posted the first official photo of Mickey Rourke as the villain Whiplash in Iron Man 2".Director Jon Favreau won't say whether or not the baddie's alter ego Vanko works for Stark Industries' rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), as he does in the comics.
"We like to play into and against the expectations that people might have so, we mixed it up a bit."
It seems Vanko "constructed his own version of a suit".
Alterations include a pair of whips powered by the chest piece.
The chest piece looks much like Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.):
"The technologies are definitely related, and that's part of the core theme of the film," says Favreau.
Let's get ready to rumble...Oh wait--wrong movie...
Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7, 2010.
