Australian actor Callan McAuliffe has won the young lead male role in Rob Reiner's coming of age pic Flipped says Screen Daily.
Based on Wendelin Van Draanen's 2001 young-adult novel about an antagonistic boy and girl neighbors who eventually share a kiss when they reach their teens.
Madeline Carroll, the youngster from "Swing Vote," was cast last week as the girl.
Aidan Quinn, Penelope Ann Miller, John Mahoney, Anthony Edwards, Rebecca De Mornay and Kevin Weisman all play the various adult characters.
Reiner co-wrote the screenplay with Andrew Scheinman.
