Mandalay Entertainment is developing a live-action feature film version of Japanese manga series "Full Metal Panic! hoping to nab Zac Efron as its star says The Hollywood Reporter.
Blending visceral action, wry comedy and high school romance, the Shoji Gatoh series follows a teenage anti-terrorist commando named Sousuke Sagara who is given the mission to protect a high-school girl with mystical powers.
Mandalay has a first-look deal at Universal Pictures but has not yet set up "Panic" at a studio.
The series was developed in 2002 as a Japanese anime series.
With his comedy 17 Again due in 10 days Efron preps to host Saturday Night Live this weekend...He's busier than ever. I can't believe he passed on the Footloose remake for this kind of stuff though...But OK-We learned late last month-that 'Gossip Girl' stud Chace Crawford auditions for 'Footloose'--but he landed another flick yesterday...
